JAPANESE OCCUPATION OFPENANG. 1942 cover sent locally with, at the
top, ON GOVERNMENT ERVICE, with a DAI NIPPON / PENANG 8c tied by a
GENERAL POST OFFICE, PENANG 3 8 2602 canceller. A red m/s ‘Retour’
and a violet boxed ‘Undelivered for reason stated. Return / to
sender at address shown on cover’ are on the front of the cover. On
the back is a Type J12 handstamp, (four months earlier than
previously recorded) Fine and very uncommon.

JAPANESE OCCUPATION OF PAHANG. 1945 re-used envelope to Singapore
(originally registered and with a 10c stamp, then turned and
re-used) that has a block of 8 Pictorial 3c and a 2c, paying a 26c
rate, all cancelled by a Japanese type JD 3 cancel. A registration
label with ‘K Lipis’ inserted in manuscript is on the front of the
cover which, on the back (and front) has the h/s of the YOKOHAMA
SPECIES BANK LTD / KUALA LIPIS. An interesting turned cover.
