Overrun Countries Anti-Axis First Day Covers. Eight First Day covers, each consists of a contemporary publication affixed to a cover, including two with Arthur Szyk designs published by Esquire Magazine, one titled "Il Duce" and the other "The New Orderlies", another with advertisement for Greek War Relief and with Greece Overrun Country stamp, one with Czechoslovakia Overrun Country stamp with multicolored cutout of "Die Walkure plunge across the sky like three drunken witches", Belgium stamp with multicolored war poster by Xavier Gonzalez titled "Slave World-or Free World?" depicting figures pushing a swastika, one with Poland stamp with bleak view of a cemetery with planes dropping bombs, another with Poland stamp and amazing design by Boris Artzybasheff depicting Hitler as a spider tying a hatchet-faced Mussolini to rods while Japan's sun sets in the west, last is another Poland stamp with design also by Boris Artzybasheff depicting a new Nazi flag with the swastika as a snake and with bloody hand marks, most of the designs are tied by the cancels, all but two addressed to John Vickrey in Riverside Ill., few small faults to be expected but the colors and overall appearance are fantastic VERY FINE. A REMARKABLE GROUP OF EIGHT FIRST DAY COVERS WITH OVERRUN COUNTRIES STAMPS, EACH WITH A COLORFUL AND POPULAR ANTI-NAZI AND ANTI-AXIS DESIGN ATTACHED. THESE ARE THE MOST AMAZING DESIGNS WE HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. The sender selected popular cartoon caricatures of the day and then affixed them to the covers before sending on the first day of issue of the stamps.
