1919, British post offices abroad, from Virpazar, Montenegro to
Newmarket, England, black-and-white picture postcard depicting
Governor General Count Clam-Martinic visiting Virpazar, posted by
British forces via military pouch to Army Post Office S 100 in
Taranto, Italy, where it was postmarked on 16 April 1919 and then
forwarded to the final destination in England, octagonal violet
PASSED BY CENSOR No 433 mark, addressed in manuscript to Cheveley
Park, Newmarket, message includes reference to fishing and
Montenegro landing, extremely scarce example of British military
postal activity from Montenegro after WWI, British presence in the
region was minimal and mail from these units is rarely recorded,
very rare and desirable, ex Kugel, XF! Estimate 400€.
