Bombay (27.2) and arrival datestamps. The long and interesting
letter reports that his battery is ordered back to India, mentions
that the Viceroy's speech regarding the annexation of Upper Burma
has been well received by the Burmese and the local government has
been dissolved and the British troops are to be rewarded. With

only as far as Tengyueh, the last Imperial Post Office before the
frontier. 1903 (June) envelope from Yunnan to Hanoi, marked "Tonkin
via Burmah", bearing 10c. in combination with India KE ½a. and QV
2a. (some affixative? staining around adhesives) cancelled at Bhamo
(30.6) and showing, on reverse, bi-lingual "tengyueh" oval
datestamp in violet (17.6), Hardoi, India transit c.d.s. (8.7 and
9.7), small black on yellow "Please return cover/to postman
for/transmission to Inspector" label tied by "o-2/set no 1" c.d.s.
(9.7), Singapore (27.7) and Haiphong (4.8) datestamps. A rare cover
