as containing a letter from Captain Harlow of an American brig at
Malta and addressed care of an agent (T. Weygin & Co) in London.
Endorsed “Rec & Forwarded by/D.K.MacDowall/Shipchandler and
agent/Malta” with framed “MALTA” scroll mark in black, and carried
by HMS “Tartarus” to Falmouth, London transit c.d.s. on reverse
where rated with “Forwarded by/THOS CARDWELL JAS/Liverpool” agent’s
handstamp in red and with New York transit, very scarce example
