collection documenting the foundation of the Turkish Post in
Bulgaria. Beginning with 1843 money order from Vidin to Lot of
40.000 kurus (one of the highest recorded amounts in Bulgarian
philately), 1857 Edina to Filibe with Arabic negative Andrianople
Post Office, several other letters with Arabic negative markings
with analysis. 1859 Sofia-Constantinople with Arabic registration
stamp, 1847 Tarnovo-Constantinople with Tirnova negative. Three
postal receipts with negative stamps of sending and receiving POs.

a horizontal strip of four, margins from shaved to large, each
adhesive tied by '1' numeral in black, matching KIØBENHAVN despatch
and HELSINGBORG transit (April 10) cds's alongside. Manuscript
"K.T.S." (Kongelig Tjeneste Sag) denotes an official correspondence
directed abroad to the Royal Swedish Telegraph Office in Stockholm,
a charming cover depicting an attractive way to pay the 32 sk.
double rate to Sweden being in force between 15 July 1854 and 30
September 1865, a very scarce official mail to a foreign
destination, one of only five covers recorded in this rate, cert.

Message sent by the passenger from the balloon flight. The entire
with printed endorsement 'Par Ballon Monté', carried on board
balloon no. 22 the 'Fulton', sent to Saint-Gengoux-le-Royal, dated
31 October 1870, franked with Siège 20 c. blue, tied by Paris Star
'11', with 'Paris Rue St. Honore' cds. in black alongside. Reverse
with a 'Magoh' and 'St. Gengoux-le Royal' arrival cds. dated 4
November 1870. Small corner fault lower right of entire and light
vertical filing fold, well clear of adhesive. The rare 'Bureau de
Dépèche Officille ou de Service-Official Message' (229 x 159 mm.),
black on yellow thin paper, is sent from Angers, where Louis Joseph
Ernest Cézanne, the passenger on the Fulton balloon, immediately
sent a message to Tours, which reads: "Arrived by balloon from
Paris. Health is good. Will arrive at Tours tonight. Telegraph
Marguerite" (his wife). The message arrived the same day and was
datestamped 'Tours' 2 November 1870. Has been folded vertically in
two places, one with a slit and a horizontally crease at base. Very
rare Official Message from the corresponding balloon flight sent by
the passenger. The only Official Message by a Ballon Monté
passenger currently known. Note: The Fulton took-off from Paris at
8:30 am. on 2 November 1870, the pilot was Le Gloarnec, sailor of
the marines, his passenger Ernest Cézanne, Engineer of Bridges.
They carried four mail bags. They landed safely in an unoccupied
zone after enduring severe cold for 6 hours, landing north-west of
Chalet, 290km south-east from Paris. They were taken to nearby
Angers by locals and then onto Tours the seat of the Government in
exile, arriving 3 November at 2 am. The pilot Le Gloarnec died a

mailed after his abdication, franked by Austria 60 gr. blue tied by
"Nöstsch / Im Galital" datestamp and addressed to Colonel Guy E.C.
Rasch CVO, DSO; at the HQ of the Grenadier Guards in London;
intialled by Edward's "E" in ink at lower left corner of the
envelope and with the Duke of Windsor's seal on reverse flap of the
envelope. Rasch and the Duke had served in the Grenadier Guards
during the First World War. At this date the Duke was staying,
courtesy of the Baron & Baroness Eugene de Rothschild at Schloss
Enzesfeld, whilst awaiting Wallis Simpson's divorce to become
absolute. Edward later stated (Daily Telegraph, March 5, 1967)
"Wallis was in Cannes. The two of us were under stern warning from
our lawyers to avoid even the most casual contact". Rare.

A rare entire - very few handstamped Ship's Names or Captain's Names are known on Transatlantic Mail.
