DDSG / DSNC agencies, Calafat; 1868 (Aug 11): Entire letter via
Ruschuk, then via the newly built railway line to Varna, future
Bulgaria, bearing 1867 10 kr. green type I, tied by "CALAFAT 11 /
VIII" datestamp in blue (Tchilinghirian fig. 782), reverse with
"RUSTSCHUK 12/8" cds (Tchilinghirian fig. 876) and two-line "VARNA
/ 13 AGO:" datestamp (Tchilinghirian fig 884), both from the
respective Austrian consular offices. Light vertical fold of no
importance, charged "15" soldi Levant unpaid rate, noted on front.
Most interesting, illustrated in Edition d'Or volume 72 on page 91.

French Consular Post Offices, Galatz; 1862 (June 14): Entire letter
to Marseille, bearing 1854 Napoleon imperforated 10 c. bistre and
40 c. orange, tied by central neat strike of Petits Chiffres '4008'
numeral in blue with type 22 cogwheel "GALATZ MOLDAVIE" cds
(Pothion = 26 points) and framed PD in the same ink as well as
framed "PAQUEBOTS DE LA MEDITERRANÉE" handstamp in red alongside,
reverse with "CONSTANTINOPLE TURQUIE" transit cds (June 17) and
MARSEILLE arrival cds (June 26). The 40 c. touched at lower left,
lightly oxidised, nevertheless a fine and fresh entire, rare mail
from the first years of the French Galatz office using the Petits
chiffres obliterator, illustrated in Edition d'Or volume 72 on page
