SHANGHAI. 1860 cover and original letter to Plymouth, England,
endorsed at the top 'From Thomas Webb, seaman on board H. M. Brig
Camilla’ with a G.B. 1d red cancelled by a barred A8(1) canceller
(the ‘1’ off the envelope) A Plymouth JY 20 80 arrival datestamp is
on the back. The cover has been correctly countersigned by the
commanding officer for the seaman to get the 1d concession rate.
The letter is headed ‘Shanghai, Camilla, May 13 1860 which confirms
the letter comes from Shanghai and also the barred numeral was
‘A81’ A scarce cover
