receipts, many interesting usages with censored, registered,
special delivery and ship mail, noted Philadelphia 1794 entire
letter to Newburry Port, Liberia 1908 parcel receipt with Revenue 2
cents tied by “MONROVIA FEB 10 1908”, USA 1899 1 cent wrapper to
Finland, USA 1876 Centennial postal stationery issue with
additional franking used from Norwich to New Hampshire, 1916 mail
from German Samoa occupied by New Zealand, etc, overall in good
condition, an interesting lot

“Oneida” via Marseille', franked with a 6d cancelled by a barred
obliterator with a MELBOURNE JA 26 1857. datestamp on the back. A
London 4 MY 1857 datestamp is on the front of the cover and a
Leamington 4 MY 57 arrival c.d.s. is on the back. The 'Oneida'
sailed from Melbourne on January 28 with 10,156 oz of gold on board
(£50,000) and 15 boxes of mail. On 23 February she put into King
George's Sound with engine trouble. The gold, passengers and the
mail were transferred to the 'European' which sailed from King
George's Sound on 21 March and arrived at Suez on 19 April. The
total journey took 98 days, well beyond the normal 65 – 70 days
this trip should have taken

L.U. N°2", Brasil 1896 "LIGNE J PAQ. FR. N°5", 1864 franked entire
from Calcutta to Venezia (faulty), Russian ROPIT mail, 1916 "HAN
KEOU CHINE POSTE FRANCAISE" on illustrated postcard from the
Butterfield and Smire Agents, Japan 1892 "YOKOHAMA * JAPAN" sent
via India, together with some attractive origins like Senegal
(1896), Straits Settlements (1894), Djibouti (1898), etc., some
occasional faults as to be expected, overall in good condition. A
most useful lot
