example in combination with 10 c. deep blue, each with ample to
good margins, used on 1862 cover to Don Guillermo Dodt, Engineer of
the Railways in Caldera, tied by "Cancelled" obliterator in black
with "Santiago / Chile" cds adjacent (Aug 12) in red. A fine cover
carried at double the 5 c. rate plus Ship fee. Cert. Philatelic
Foundation (2000). Provenance: Collection "Crown Point", Corinphila
sale 131, 8 Oct 2001, lot 6277.

(shades), the Exhibit collection on leaves with unused examples (5,
in differing shades, one is sheet marginal); three used examples
with pre-printing paper folds; Worn Plate examples used (3) and
further shades, multiples with horizontal strips of three (4),
vertical strips of three (2) and a horizontal strip of four,
cancellation study with target handstamps in red and in blue,
circular datestamp usages from Constitution and Melipilla, straight
line cancels from Cauquenes, Chalinga, Chillan, Constitution,
Ovalle, Parral, Petorca, Puerto del Huasco and Yllapel; and three
covers: one with a 5 c. pair from Casablanca, and two attractive
covers with strips of three, one 1858 cover ex Serena and another
addressed to Don Guillermo Dodt, Engineer of the Railway in
Caldera. A splendid and most attractive lot (51 items).

bilingually addressed 1903 registered cover to Dublin, Ireland tied
by "Tientsin" cds (Sept 29), with Chinese P.O. "Newchang" transit
(Oct 3) and reverse showing Russian P.O. in China 'Kitai' 10 k.
blue in a vertical strip of three all tied by "YINKOW (Newchang)
FIELD POST OFFICE" cds's in black (Tchilinghirian fig. 655) also
tying the Cyrillic registration label of same below. Superb strike
of Chinese Eastern Railway "POSTAL WAGON No. 262 / 7" cds (Sept
22j) in black (Tchilinghirian fig. 658) and red oval London
registered transit (Oct 23). A fine and rare cover that opens well
for Exhibit display.

Administration 5 c. on ½ c. brown, surcharged in black, used on
1901 cover to Major Reed at the Base Office Hospital in Tientsin,
tied by "RAILWAY POST OFFICE / TIENTSIN" cachet in purple in
combination with 1900 C.E.F. 3 p. carmine pair tied by "Base
Office" code C datestamp (May 19) in black. Reverse with "Base
Office" code B cds (May 19) and "F.P.O. No. 4" datestamp (May 20)
in black. File fold away from the adhesives but a scarce and
attractive cover.

example used on local cover tied by circular "RAILWAY POST OFFICE /
SHANHAIKWAN" cachet in purple. A fresh and fine cover
self-addressed to Lt. Col. O.C. Radford, Commandant of the 4th
Native Infantry based at Shanhaikwan.

(Proud fig. D1), 1916 detailed handstamps with piece showing four
"Test Prints / Proof Strikes" from the Midland Line with
"Travelling 5 UP " and "Travelling 7 UP" strikes; 1927 3 c.
stationery wrapper to Moka cancelled "Travelling / Box M.L"
datestamp in black; 1922 3 c. up-rated stat. wrapper to Moka
cancelled "Travelling / Box M.K" datestamps in black; similar item
to Mika with "TRAVELLING BOX" handstamp in black. All are scarce (5
items).

"via Laredo, Texas" to New York; the cover with charred edges at
right and, on reverse stylographic label applied "Post Office, New
York NY. This piece of mail was damaged in a railway wreck which
occurred on the Southern Railway from Charlotte, NC on 11 April
1897. C.A.Dayton, Postmaster". The label well tied by New York cds
