232nd Abacus Auction
Abacus Auctions Sale 232 on Saturday 2 March 2019 offers 700+ lots of Australia featuring extensive Kangaroos, KGV Heads & Australian Colonies plus Postal History, Postal Stationery & Picture Postcards.
There are also around 300 lots of Worldwide Stamps, Postal History & Postcards highlighted by a group of newly-discovered 1870s ‘Fiji Times’ newspapers with both Fiji & New South Wales frankings (including a 1d Cakobau; only the fifth postal item recorded).
The Sale continues on Sunday 3 March with three important single-owner collections:
· the ‘Ginger Meggs’ Australian Scenic Letter Cards International Large Gold Medal exhibit;
· Colin Riddell’s Cocos Islands Postal History (Great Britain,Malayan & Australian Administration); and
· William Pate’s New Guinea Commercial Mail 1889-1941 including Forerunners & GRI/NWPI overprints.
These include many items of interest to collectors of Australia, Germany, Ceylon, Great Britain & Malaya as well as WWI & WWII Military & Censorship, Airmail & Registered Mail, Tax & Postage Dues, Flight Covers, etc. and of course for Thematic / Topical collectors.
