Ulrich Felzmann 174th Auction
March 15th - 19th, 2022
PHILATELY
Large spring auction at the auction house Felzmann from 15 to 19 March 2022. The extensive subject areas of airmail and zeppelin mail, international philately, old Germany, German Empire and Dependencies are expanded this auction by a separate part China with a great estate of two collectors. The Imperial Collection starts with the Great Dragons, here all twelve stamps are represented. In addition, there are good local issues, especially Shanghai also with Great Dragons and later overprint issues. An exceptional piece, a postal stationery from 1899 with postcard printing on the reverse, cancelled with a Dollar Chop from Hankow and the very rare destination South Africa graces the cover of the China special catalogue. The lots of the China special offer can be auctioned on 17 February 2022 from 12 am. In old Felzmann manner, the stamp auction starts with airmail and zeppelin mail, this time preceded by "record flights" worldwide, including e.g. 1938, Howard Hughes' round-the-world flight with his own signature. In the single lot part Europe, one finds Spain's classic color misprint "castaño rojo oscuro" right in a pair, the German single lots offer e.g. Olympia- enthusiast a rare watermark variety in III Reich, the part postwar philately holds ready a complete foil sheet with all 10 copies "Digital Change" without imprint of the matrix code. As in the last auctions, autographs of famous personalities of the modern age can be purchased.
After the program of individual lots, there are more than 1,700 stamp collections, lots and estates in the auction, which will go under the hammer on the last two auction days.
NUMISMATIC
In the numismatic section of the 174th Felzmann spring auction from March 15 – 19 more than 2,000 lots from antiquity to modernity are available. Here, on the first two auction days, in addition to (gold) coins and non-numismatic objects, there is also a special section of banknotes - the "Bruno" collection - which has been compiled in a special catalogue. One of the highlights of this auction is the very rare half thaler from Liegnitz - Brieg or the ducat from Danzig with Stephan Bathory. From Prussia comes a coin with Wilhelm II, 20 M Garde du Corps from 1915 and Old Germany is represented with a 20 Thaler banknote of the Hanoverian Bank from 1857.
