This sale offers a wide range of tastes and interests. A highly desirable illustrated Queen Mary I patent with the Great Seal of State. A strong showing of Elizabethan documents, mostly financial or other warrants, also 1577 illustrated Grant of Arms. A diverse range for the postal historian from 1680 document relating to the Postmaster General and the use of Free post, several Post Office Acts from 1710 Queen Anne Act, various lots pertaining to mail coaches including John Palmer's Bath - London mail coach, a 1788 contract for the London to Manchester route and other illustrated documents. Important naval items with 1805 letter from Horatio Nelson, 1803 Letter of Marque and a rare crew agreement for the 'Queenborough'. There is a collection of Kitchener, some rare letters and cards from Edward, the Prince of Wales to his mistress Mrs Freda Dudley Ward. The auction includes a most unusual item, an 1804 Chepstow £5 banknote signed by many famous boxers and actors in the 1960's.
