Welcome to Auction 227, the first auction conducted under the Abacus Auctions name. This sale features 1300+ lots from 100+ vendors with a large number of collections and accumulations offered intact. From Australia there are fine Kangaroos and KGV Heads, an exciting new find of ‘OS’ items including Kingsford Smith blocks of 32, Postal Stationery with the exceedingly rare 1½d Letter Card “BURRINJUCK DAM” (In Flood), First Day Covers and Postal History with strength in WWII civil censor and POW mail. Fine selections and excellent singles from all the Australian Colonies are highlighted by Max Watson’s Victorian Barred Numerals. The Rest of the World section features fine Europe, Asia and British Empire including strong sections of New Guinea, Papua, and New Zealand plus a lovely selection of Cape of Good Hope “Triangles” and an extensive range of Picture Postcards from around the world.
