The auction house Dr. Reinhard Fischer in Bonn will hold its 185th auction from March 10 to 12. Our 185th auction includes a large variety of rarities and highlights in the area of philately as well as an interesting offer of almost 1,200 coin lots and more than 150 militaria, jewelry and watch lots.
Two impressive special collections from Austria are liquidated in a special catalog. The “Donau collection” Breast Shields of the German Empire comprises 200 lots of an accomplished collector. Almost every piece has a variety or another distinctive feature. Highlights include both “Elbinger Postfälschungen” (postal forgeries of Elbing) MiNo. 6 and 22 (starting price 1,800.- and 750.-, respectively), imperforate values such as the MiNo. 22U (starting price 2,200.-), numerous mis-perforated copies, screw-head prints, unusual perforation holes, plate flaws and marginal copies. The “Ing. Ernst Jenewein” collection features all facets of the Austrian philately with more than 300 lots, starting from the classical period with many color and paper varieties, combination frankings to rare lots of the semiclassical period: This includes classics such as the “WIPA souvenir sheet“ (MiNo. Bl. 1) in flawless MNH ** condition (starting price 1,200.-), “Dollfuß” (MiNo. 588) three times in MNH ** condition (each 300.-) and one first day cover (500.-), rare First Day Covers such as the “Trachten-Satz” (folk costume set) MiNo. 693/26 (estimated price 1,000.-) and varieties such as the extremely rare 6,40 S. “Goldenes Dachl Innsbruck” on chalky paper with brightener in flawless MNH ** condition (starting price 800.-). Furthermore, there are interesting lots of the dependencies as well as a select stamp section and large comprehensive collections.
Aside from the sought-after standard issues, the main catalog comprises a number of special items.
The Old German States are well represented, including three “One kreuzer black” and valuable items such as an exceptionally well-margined and attractively cancelled “Sachsen 3 Pfennige red” MiNo. 1a (starting price 2,200.-). A “Chicago Zeppelin Flight” set in flawless MNH ** condition is offered at a starting price of 1,500.-. The colonial philately includes a batch of MNH ** sheets with values such as the rare Togo MiNo. 23IIA (surely unique as a sheet; starting price 2,400.-). An Ozeanreederei MiNo. 16Y in MH * condition with the rare watermark variety is offered at a starting price of 10,000.-. Only 40 copies of the rare overprint type MiNo. 16III of Zara were produced. A flawless used copy is offered at a starting price of 2,500.-. The liquidation of a collection includes mint and postmarked field post stamps of high quality. An old special collection included a mint strip of three of the rarest main catalog number of post-war Germany, the Notopfermarke (emergency tax stamp) MiNo. 7 of the Bizone. It is offered at a starting price of 2,500.- with a new photo certificate Harlos BPP. Particularly noteworthy is the comprehensive offer of early First Day Covers from the GDR, Berlin and the FRG incl. the a “Posthornsatz” (post horn set) on first day covers at a starting price of 3,000.-. A comprehensive “Ireland” collection includes interesting lots such as a flawless used copy of the MiNo. 11II (starting price 500.-) and a just as very fine used copy of the rare MiNo. 43C (starting price 800.-), each with a photo certificate Hamilton-Bowen BPP.
Countless estates are offered in their original untouched condition without any item
selected previously. There is something for everyone, from an extensive estate in more than 50 cartons to a highly specialized German colonies collection from a collector’s estate that was left untouched for 50 years with many MNH ** blocks of four (starting price 6,000.-) to a small cancellation collection “against bids”.
Numismatics:
Classical antiquity: The almost 150 lots consist of mostly Greek mintings such as two
Cyzician electrum staters from the 6th century BC (lots 41 and 42, estimated starting price 1,800.- each). Aside from that, there is a very interesting collection of 257 Roman coins (lot 138, estimated price 3,150.-).
Germany: Aside from numerous thalers and 2, 3 and 5 mark silver coins, many 10 and 20 mark gold coins. The almost 180 lots include coins from Baden (lots 205 to 208), Saxony (lots 367 to 374) and Württemberg (lots 375 to 384). The Weimar Republic and other German dependencies are also well represented, including a 2 rupees coin of German-East Africa from 1893 (estimated price 350.-) and a 200 euro gold coin of the FRG (lot 419; estimated price 1,700.-).
Europe and overseas: The lots 439-676 offer a large variety of silver and gold coins. The lots 592-616 include rarely offered commemorative coins from Slovakia (estimated price 60.- to 500.- each). There is a rich offer of Czech coins of the 1990s (lots 630-657, estimated price 50.- to 800.- each). Lot 620 is a rarity. Only 428 sets of the extremely rare Krugerrand set (1 ounce of gold and 1 Protea) “100 years of Johannesburg” of 1986 were issued worldwide (estimated price 3,500.-).
Collections and lots: Rich offer with small lots “against bids” to large collections in several cartons, including a large estate in four cartons with mostly modern German mintings (lot 774, estimated price 7,000.-).
Banknotes: The rich offer includes over 200 lots (lot 845-1077) such as banknotes of the FRG of up to 500 mark (lot 931) as well as emergency banknotes, e.g. with a 1,000 mark cloth banknote of Bielefeld (lot 1046, estimated price 180.-).
Militaria: Medals, Badges of honor, melee weapons, estates and replicas (lots 1176 to 1223; estimated prices 10,- to 1,000.-).
Jewelry: The jewelry, watch and silverware section comprises over 200 lots (lots 1228 to 1335). Lot 1233 includes an extraordinary, rectangular anchor chain with a pendant made of 750s YG (estimated price 2,200.-). Aside from that, wrist watches are offered (lots 1307 to 1329). A highlight is a Carl F. Bucherer ladies’ wrist watch (lot 1329, estimated price 2,700.-).

Short Terms and Conditions
The sale of auction lots is subject to differential taxation. If we ship lots inside the EC, the buyer shall pay a buyers premium of 23,8 % of the hammer price and a lot fee of 3,– EUR per lot (both including VAT), also costs of shipping and insurance. If we ship lots to a country outside the EC, the buyer shall pay a buyers premium of 20 % of the hammer price and a lot fee a 3,– EUR per lot, also costs of shipping and insurance. If the goods are exported outside the EC by the buyer himself, it may be possible to refund VAT. For gold coins that are exempt from VAT, the buyer shall pay a buyers premium of 20 % of the hammer price and a lot fee a 3,– EUR per lot, also costs of shipping and insurance.
