The auction house Dr. Reinhard Fischer in Bonn is holding its 197th auction on June 14, 2024. The extensive selection of almost 6,400 lots offers a wide range of items from all areas of philately.
From the German states, there is a diverse and high-quality offering, especially the postage due stamps from Baden, Bavaria with several "Schwarzer Einser" and a quality offering from Hamburg. Spectacular is a 4-color franking from Alsace-Lorraine with two values each of MiNo. 1Ia, 2Ia and 5Id together with the 3Ia as a 30-Centimes-franco with the rare destination Ireland. The cover with this unique franking is offered for 6,000 Euros. The offer of the German Empire again includes a high-carat offer of mint issues from the breast shields to the III Reich. Among them is an unused block of 15 of the 1/3 Groschen "Small Breast Shield" stamp - in which 7 values are even MNH - a museum piece of the imperial philately. This is the largest known unit of MiNo. 2a. Bids from 25,000 Euros will be accepted for this unique item from the Kosack Collection. Among the numerous rarities of colonial philately are many lots from a collection that has been dormant for more than 50 years; one of the top items is the 50 Pfg Germania-stamp with handstamp overprint of China in very fine used condition. The piece, which has been expertized many times and has a new Jäschke-Lantelme BPP photo certificate, is priced at 4,000. At the same starting price a rarity of the German occupation of Zara will be auctioned, the 7 C. value with inverted watermark. Only 8 examples of this variety are known, 2 of them in used condition. The offered piece in perfect quality even bears a first day cancel.
From the liquidation of an ambitious collection of post-1945 German local issues, we are able to offer a comprehensive selection of almost 600 lots. However, the other post-war areas are also well represented, with the highlights including a cover with the Sarre 4 Fr. and the 5 Fr. from the "Urdrucksatz", the latter being one of the rarest issues of the Neusaar philately. 3,500 is called for the perfectly preserved lot. The "Transport Exhibition souvenir sheet on hand made paper" is a legend of FRG philately and is likely to be missing from even the most comprehensive collections. Bids from 4,000 will be accepted for this lot. For collectors of non-German areas, the catalog this time includes an interesting section of documents, covers and postal stationery from the Italian philately starting from the 14th century as well as a nice offer of Austria with interesting lots up to the unissued 1 Pfennig Hitler stamp of the "Ist Vienna provisional issue". A striking feature of these values is the overprint, which is always upside down. This rarely offered Austrian rarity in perfect MNH ** condition is priced at 6,000.
Our best collection offering of the auction year to date once again opens up numerous opportunities for collectors and resellers. Nearly all of the almost 900 lots come from collectors: from estates without any withdrawals to numerous well-stocked country collections such as an extensive special collection of German State Hanover in five albums at a starting price of 12,000 to a high-quality collection of German colonies and ship mail detailed by individual areas with many covers.
